In order to improve my contribution to the raid as well as my healer roll i decided to respec into Lightwell healing spec; this is not an easy job, my performance depends on the attention and focus of the raiders, therefore it is important for me and for you know this spell and the proper time to use it.

Lightwell Rank 6
17% of base mana 40 yd range
0.5 sec cast 3 min cooldown
Creates a Holy Lightwell. Friendly players can click the Lightwell to restore 4620 health over 6 sec. Attacks done to you equal to 30% of your total health will cancel the effect. Lightwell lasts for 3 min or 10 charges.

This means that the Lightwell renew (the buff that appear as soon as you click it) will heal you for about 1540 health every 2 sec (this do not include my current sp).
The 3min cd makes me able to even use it more than once in selected fights.
The lightwell appearance makes it easy to see....but really hard to click when there is a bunch of people standing on it. (to prevent this to happen, people must move (if able) as fast as they can, even if it is just a little bit, believe me, it does helps a lot.)

on a side note: Lightwell is a very discussed spell, full of opinions and questions, if you want to know about the proposals that people had made about it visit http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=23767645324&sid=1

Opinions from Blizzard: Ghostcrawler, August 2009:

Q u o t e:

Q: Lightwell isn’t a very desirable talent for most Holy priests given its current functionality; do you have any plans to improve its functionality?

Ghostcrawler: We’ve tried a lot of different implementations so far. The basic root of the problem is that most dps classes seem unwilling to have to take the time or spatial awareness to make use of the Lightwell, even if it provides great healing. Players will use Health Stones, but Lightwell crosses the line. We’re not entirely happy with that phenomenon in the game as a whole. We don’t like that dps characters focus on dps at the exclusion of even their own survival and just assume that’s the healer’s job (this is similar to the problem I mentioned a week or two ago where some tanks focus on survival and downplay threat or damage dealt). To be clear, Lightwell heals for a lot. The problem is just getting players to use it. Encounters currently are very fast-paced, in terms of both dps and healing required so you have trouble finding room to use it. If we do more encounters where healing is more about deciding who to heal, then Lightwell would be amazing.

Ghostcrawler, Dec 2009:

Q: Haven't you technically already solved this problem? Why not make lightwell be like the ones the priests in the TOC5 man trash drop? I'm not sure whether it does damage or heals, it seems negligible either way, but its definately significantly better than the current human player alternative.

Ghostcrawler: It's cool in that encounter, but if the Holy priest version worked like that, we fear it would feel too much like a Healing Stream Totem. Priests already have a lot of fire and forget heals. What we want is something that feels more like a warlock Healthstone. "Here, I am giving you this ability to heal yourself later in the fight. Use it well." I don't think Lightwell is working like that now, but that's the intent, and we're not ready to give up on it. Someday.... smile

Now that you know the basic, im hoping you will be more attent for the propoer use of this spell....this is not a only healing topic, im counting with your help...thanks for give you the time for read this, if you ever have any suggestions about this, whisper me in game or post here ^^.

Ok, i did HoR after this change and used Lightwell as well.., what i saw can be resumed in this: the tank liked to tank next to the lightwell so he was able to click it in a need, but the mobs used to stand on it and it was hard to see/click; there was a lock wich after each fight spammed life tap and used the well for heal the damage caused..this is not bad, but have in mind that's not the main purpose of the spell, there was a dk also..which walked to the lightwell every time he was half life and waited 2sec before noticed he wasn't getting any heal and then clicked it (good strategy), the other dps..even at the point of be almost dead never got close to the well....By my part, since i was analyzing the fight, i decided to not heal much..and see what the dps would do about it... eventually i had to heal them lots of times even with the well there...and spent more mana that i actually suspected.

gonna see how it works in other groups.

yea, that's the main reason why most holy priests don't spec into lightwell. it will change your current target when you click the well . most dps don't want to stop dps and click on it. It could help on certain fights tho. for example ,the sindragosa fiight, when caster get 8 stacks of the debuff and stop dpsing, they could click the well the heal themselves.

yea, the lightwell in toc5man is awsome .hopefully priests can have a well like that someday.
