So for those of us who are to lazy to search the mass information super highway,
heres a quick how to, what to, for Assassination in 4.0.1 :]
The Spec
Spec: http://cata.wowhead.com/talent#fcIfzsMdoGo0bZ0h:zqVdbfmcz
(Better for fights like LK etc)
Alternate Spec: http://cata.wowhead.com/talent#fcIf0sRdoGo0bZ0h:zqVdbfmcz
(Better for fights where applying crip poision isnt required, less damage taken, less healers have to heal you)
(Note: Either spec will work fine, there both the same dps wise (One is better for fights like the LK where getting crip poision on valks helps with the fight, the other will reduce the healing, healers have to do to you when you get hit)
Gems and Enchants
Gemming: With all the stat changes, gemming and enchants have changed as well, Mut rogues are lucky in the sense that Attack Power gems are getting turned into Agility gems, So if you were stacking AP you should still be good, if you where high enough geared where you where gemming Pure Haste, it would now be better to gem for agility! (Remember to keep gemmed for your meta!)
Red Sockets: Agility
Yellow Sockets: Agility/Haste
Blue Sockets: Agility/Hit
And yes, Agi/hit > nightmare tear.
Weapon Enchants: Mongoose/Mongoose
(With the new attack power and agility changes it is now better to enchant you weapons with, Mongoose/Mongoose, instead of Beserk/Beserk)
Mongoose/Beserk
(This combination seems to be in close running with Mongoose/Mongoose, Although current numbers show mongoose/mongoose ahead.)
Gear Enchants:
Boots: 16 agi
Cloak: 22 agi
Gloves: 20 agi
The Glyphs
Prime: Backstab, Rupture, Mutilate
Major: Sprint, Fan of knives, Cloak of shadows
Minor: Blurred speed, Safe fall, Distract
Reforging and YOU!
With the release of the new reforging system Mut rogues will do the following.
1. Gem first
2. Reforge to get expertise and hit capped (Do not gem or enchant for it), ALWAYS! Turn crit on gear to Hit/Expertise/Haste
3. If your expertise and hit capped reforge crit to haste!
4. It is currently being studyed to see if reforging to mastery would be better then hit, some say hit is the way to go and some say mastery, i my self believe that for now hit is the better way to go and at 85 it might be mastery but for now i would stick with hit.
5. If the item your reforgin has Crit and Haste on it, Reforge Crit into Hit (Unless your white hit capped)
The New Expertise/Hit Caps
Expertise cap is 200, or 177 for gnomes wielding appropriate weapons.
Hit caps:
3/3 Precision Posion Hit Cap: 289 White Hit Cap: 646
2/3 Precision Posion Hit Cap: 342 White Hit Cap: 707
1/3 Precision Posion Hit Cap: 394 White Hit Cap: 769
0/3 Precision Posion Hit Cap: 446 White Hit Cap: 830
(Basically you want to reach 342 with the current 4.0.1 spec, but more hit is still better then crit)
The Rotation
(Note: Always open with garrote and snd right away [Common sense])
Boss Above 35% Health Rotation: Mutilate until 4+ CP, Rupture, Mutilate until 4+ CP, Envenom
[Keeping rupture up 100% and the envenom buff up 100% is the goal here, So if rupture is about to fall off rupture, if not envenom]
(Note: If your having trouble refreshing your SnD at the beging by rupturing first, then envenom first and rupture after although this will be a DPS loss it wont be that much. and its better then letting snd fall off.)
(Execute Phase)
Boss Below 35% Health Rotation: Backstab until 4+ CP, Rupture, Backstab until 4+ CP, Envenom
[Same goal as above, but at this part you will begin regain energy back really quick (it is still better to clip the envenom buff then to use eviscerate]
This is a alot of knowledge to take in, i know!
but it all works out with a little practice, so dont beat yourself for missing a rupture;
or letting envenom fall off. After quite a bit of target dummy fun ive found it almost impossible if not inprobable to keep envenoms buff up 100% of the time without selling your combo point short. But spend some time on the dummies, learn your rotation and the new changes, and remember practice makes perfect
